Welcome to the first step in helping your horse feel better and move better
My name is Annemarie Bright and I am a veterinary-approved equine therapist, qualified with the Institute of Complementary Animal Therapies. I have been running Musclebound for nearly three years and specialise in offering horses relief from aches, pains and stiffness through a series of gentle, but effective treatments involving sports therapy massage.
Sometimes we know when our horse has been injured, but sometimes we don't. It can take months for the damage to a horse following an injury to become obvious. Horses can injure themselves playing in the field, pulling back in the yard or even rolling. Sometime later your horse might start seeming stiffer on one rein than he used to be, might start putting in uncharacteristic refusals, might take a sudden dislike to you getting on or having the saddle touch his back. You might notice that he is losing muscle in a particular area or gaining it somewhere he shouldn't.
Whatever the cause, the chance are the problem will worsen if it's not treated.
An initial consultation with me takes up to two hours - an injury to one part of the horse usually has a knock-on affect throughout the body. My treatments offer a long-term solution, rather than a short-term fix. As such, I look at each horse holistically, taking its work, age, diet, condition and temperament into consideration. I also discuss a long-term plan of exercise, nutrition and stretches to get your horse back to his full potential.
The therapy can also help improve muscle tone and elasticity, reduce strains on tendons and ligaments, improve length of stride and elevation and encourage the muscles to work to their maximum efficiency.
